Problems with car insurance company on part-refund of policy
Hi all,
I am having an issue with AutoDirect van insurance. My father had insurance with them but he unfortunately passed away last year. I informed them of this and they sent me a cheque made payable to the executors of my father. Now my father did not leave a will or any estate so no probate was carried out and no formal executor appointed but the bank want to see the probate documents before it can be deposited. The cheque is only for the sum of just over £200, so not a huge amount.
I wrote to AutoDirect twice, asking them if they could kindly make the cheque out to my mum as we were having difficulty depositing the cheque and also sent a copy of the marriage certificate but i have had no reply at all. I have tried calling but the staff are unable to help as they seem to be there to answer general questions re the insurance itself.
6 months have now elapsed since the cheque was issued so the bank will most likely refuse now anyway but i am not sure what option i have now?
